Shrinking Distribution Could Spell Ruin for The LowPress
Just as The LowPress completes an unprecedented overhaul and expansion of services, it appears storm clouds are gathering. This spring, The LowPress took an unorthodox approach to their presentation format, mimicking the style of a failing industry. While one or two applauded the action, the general readership seems to be unmoved by it.
I, celebrated writer of the wiffle, Hugh Wifflerton, caught up with Editor-In-Chief of the LowPress, Seth Beck, to discuss.
"Well, you know we thought that when people came to the site, you know those wiffle fans obsessed with their Sunday paper, that they would feel at home."
Beck continues, "It turns out that they see the newspaper format and immediately become disinterested. It seems that simply the illusion of traditional media is enough to make people hate it."
This disinterest and angst has led to plummeting distribution numbers, a nearly 60% drop in readership over last year.
"We were seeing easily 10-11 active users at this time last season, but now, man it is slim pickings," states Beck. "Sometimes I feel like the only people reading are the people writing."
There is a silver lining to this cloud. While regional numbers account for the drop, the external market is starting to make a positive difference. With the meat of the season coming up and some sure classics of the plastic on the way, hope remains that there will be a lowballwiffle.org next season.
"I sure hope so, it has been my only summer employment and passion for the past three years, I have trouble imagining a world without it." a noticeably emotional Beck concludes.

It doesn't matter if I'm the only one reading it, damn it. I read it, like three, four times a day, so that counts for like four times the readership right? I mean between you and me that's like 12 readers or something, Right? Help me out here. Really this is just a temporary lull. we'll get some hits, you'll see. They just haven't noticed you're a genius yet.

While I am not directly connected with the publication, I have heard through acquaintances that the staff are moderately optimistic that the return of the Summer Classic could spike readership.
