Shoddy Contract Leaves Hot Rod Questionable for the Big Confines Reopener

Shock trickled through the LowBall nation today as word of Hot Rod's questionable availability for the second game of the season surfaced. The shock rose as the seasoned veteran is not known to miss a regular season game, let alone the first LowBall night game.

The potential tardiness can be traced to an ill advised contract that Hot Rod signed following the 2007 season. Coming off a strong rookie season and a win at the inaugural Wifftober, Beck signed a 3 year contract heavily laced with performance based incentives. At the time, the Commissioner was pushing this style of contract to keep league expenses to a minimum.

The following season Beck produced some solid numbers but faltered in the Wifftober championship and came away with no hardware. The 2009 season appeared to be heading towards a positive conclusion for HR until a loaded Lagers team destroyed his hopes in yet another Wifftober.

And so we arrive in this season with Hot Rod lacking the championships and awards necessary to get paid. In order to keep renovations at HST on schedule, Hot Rod has stooped to the lowest level of an athlete, doing corporate speaking engagements. This only throws fuel on the fire that has been smoldering between HR and the Commissioner following last season's controversial Beerman call in Wifftober III.

As of this printing, it is rumored that an unnamed rich bastard may work to get HR transported back from Boston in time for the big show.
