LowBall reigns in Frozen epic
Submitted by the commissioner on October 31, 2010 - 11:03amThe snow storm that blown in mid-summer continued into Saturday morning as teams lined for the annual Championship celebration. After for trailing for most of the season to the Naysayers, LowBall came back with 6 runs in the 9th to win 25-23 in Wifftober IV, and claimed it's fourth title is as many years.
The Naysayers matched and exceeded every LowBall rally throughout the game prior the last inning comeback and lead for most the contest. The relentless Naysayers brought the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the 9th, but B. Cloud's perfectly fielded slow roller closed out 2010 with a well deserved but improbable LowBall victory.
Lowball still missing after Canoe Mishap
Submitted by the commissioner on September 25, 2010 - 5:55amWhile the wiffle world still grieves and struggles to accept the untimely death of El Guapo Moriarty and the (apparent) kidnapping or suicide of Black Cloud Beck, it is thrown another nasty inside curve that few will understand, and fewer will empathize with. The LowPress has learned that many of the surviving LowBall players have scheduled a canoe trip on the sacred Championship weekend, thus assuring that Wifftober, and perhaps LowBall itself, have joined the list of the mourned.Read more

Revised Proposed LowBall Schedule Leaked to Press
Submitted by the commissioner on August 17, 2009 - 10:49amLincoln- Having not yet been fully vetted by Widows of Wiffle (WOW) scheduling sub-committee, copies of the revised proposed 2009 LowBall schedule have been floated out to various media sources. The source of the leak was undisclosed in the media packages. However, a high ranking LowBall represenitive said to be "very close" to the decision making process spoke on the condition of anonymity stating, "I can't believe the Widows are going to have a problem with the new scheduling format and organization. I am confident that they will realize that the Scheduling Board really responded in a pro-active manner to the vast majority of concerns outlined in the WOW Report. I believe we will see it approved on a first vote, but don't quote me on that." The new schedule does, in fact, seem to represent a new age of wiffle, not only balancing the WOW interest, but also the Offspring Foundations demands to be constantly entertained. Widows of Wiffle will be reviewing the revised proposed schedule over the next week.

The Loggers (1-1) will host the Lagers (1-1) SATURDAY @ 1:00 SHARP at the Lincoln Sports (firehouse) in yet another new LowBall venue.

LOGGERS OUTHOMER LAGERS 18-16 in Exciting Season Opener, First Scacifice Fly in LowBall History
Submitted by the commissioner on May 31, 2009 - 6:17pmLincoln - Wingman Howell soared on a gale force wind to tie a LowBall record considered untouchable, by homering 3 times in consecutive bats leading the Loggers to an opening day road victory over the Lagers, 18-16. In the bottome 3rd inning, with bases loaded and 1 out, the Lagers star Ox hit a fly to deep left center, as the ball left the bat he crying out "What ever it I am suppose to say to score", Lonichio looked confused after the catch gently tossing the ball back to the mound, and it was done. Tying the score at 1, Ox recorded the first sacrifice fly in LowBall history, breaking the game the game open and getting the new season off to a flying start, but the flying had only begun.
Veteran T. Trot Thompson III gave up 5 home runs in a nine run 4th in a game that the Lagers lead 7-1, including Wingman's 3 and back to back to back shots to start the inning. 30 mph winds or not, it is clear that the duel roles of a Player/Commissioner has taken it's toll on Trot. The game eventually yeilded 12 long balls, including a 130 foot (unofficial) blast by H.R. Beck that all agreed was the longest ever at GapBridge Field. Hot Rod also looked very sharp on the mound for the Lagers in the loss. Both teams showed both strong mid-season form and early season sloppiness on a beautiful but very windy day.
The 2008 Wifftober Champion Loggers fielded The Surgeon, Lonichiro, a returning J-Rod, New Dad Claudio, and the Wingman. The Lagers, 2008 Eastern League winners, fielded the same starting lineup that was humiliated in last year’s championship of Ox, Hot Rod, T.Trot, and The Unit as well as rookie Sean Noname, just brought up from Hubberton. The Lagers fought back from a 16-7 deficit in the 7th, bringing the tying run to the plate twice in the bottom of the 9th, but could not find the favorable breeze to blow for them and the Loggers prevailed in yet another LowBall classic, surly setting the stage for another year of LowBall classics in 2009.
